Harry Kane fired Tottenham into next season’s Champions League even as Chelsea faltered in a 1-1 draw at home to Huddersfield that helped the latter survive.

A point for Huddersfield on Wednesday also ensures Swansea will join West Brom and Stoke in being relegated to the Championship, barring a 10-goal swing in goal difference between the Welsh side and Southampton on the final day of the season on Sunday.

Kane proved Tottenham’s talisman once more as his 39th goal of the season was enough to move Spurs above Liverpool into third.

At the Etihad, champion Manchester City added three more records to a sensational season by breaking the previous best Premier League marks for wins, points and goals in a 3-1 victory over Brighton.

City has now racked up 105 goals and 97 points to beat Chelsea’s hitherto records of 30 wins, 103 goals and 95 points.

The results:

Premier League: Chelsea 1 (Alonso 62) drew with Huddersfield 1 (Depoitre 50); Leicester 3 (Iheanacho 14, Vardy 76-pen, Mahrez 90) bt Arsenal 1 (Aubameyang 53); Manchester City 3 (Danilo 16, B. Silva 34, Fernandinho 72) bt Brighton 1 (Ulloa 20); Tottenham 1 (Kane 50) bt Newcastle 0.

La Liga: Barcelona 5 (Coutinho 11, Paulinho 16, Messi 45, Dembele 87, 90+3) bt Villarreal 1 (Sansone 54); Sevilla 3 (Ben Yedder 26, Layun 45, Ramos 84-og) bt Real Madrid 2 (Mayoral 87, Ramos 90+5-pen).
