Japan and Uzbekistan split points

Reigning Asian champion Japan came from behind to record a 1-1 draw with host Uzbekistan in their 2014 World Cup qualifying Group ‘C' encounter here on Tuesday.

Uzbekistan midfielder Server Djeparov opened the scoring early on only for Shinji Okazaki to equalise for Japan after the break.

The result leaves the sides level on four points at the top of the group after two rounds.

The results: Group ‘A': Singapore 0 lost to Iraq 2 (Ala'a 49, Younus 85); Jordan 2 (Abdul Rahman 48, Deeb 54) bt China 1 (Junmin 56).

Group ‘C': Uzbekistan 1 (Djeparov 8) drew with Japan 1 (Okazaki 65); North Korea 1 (Pak Nam-Chol 14) bt Tajikistan 0.

Group ‘D': Thailand 3 (Sompong Soleb 35, Teerasil Dangda 41, Rashid Al Farsi 90+1-og) bt Oman 0.

Group ‘E': Indonesia 0 lost to Bahrain 2 (Sayed Dhiya Saeed Ebrahim 45, Abdulatif Ismaeel 72).
