Mumbai: Hyderabad Sporting FC, which qualified from the Neymar Jr. National finals, will take part in the world finals of the Red Bull Neymar Jr.’s Five at the Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr., Praia Grande, Brazil on July 7 and 8.

The national champions of 53 countries from six continents will compete in the finals. The Hyderabad team will get an opportunity to meet star Brazilian striker Neymar Jr.

Around one lakh players from 53 countries took part in the second edition.

“Nobody expected so many players from so many countries and I’m delighted to see people playing the game the way it should be played; together, in friendship, and with a great sense of fun. This is football the way I grew up playing it and I hope the numbers just get bigger and bigger,” said Neymar Jr. in a press release.

The inaugural event was won by Brazilian team Anjos da Bola (Angels of the Ball). And the reward for winning the world finals was a game against Neymar Jr. and his friends, and also a visit to Camp Nou to see FC Barcelona and Neymar Jr. in action at the training ground.

A statement from Hyderabad Sporting FC said: “The format for Neymar Jr.’s Five is a lot of fun. The rules make it a lot more fun and competitive; you lose your game for a minute and you lose a player. Properties such as this motivate Indian footballers like us to work hard, to achieve opportunities to represent their own country, which is always a very proud moment. We are looking forward to represent our country in Brazil.”
