2018 FIFA World Cup
In Group D, Croatia started their campaign brilliantly by defeating Nigeria and followed the stupendous form against Argentina. In the last match, Croatia defeated debutants Iceland and topped the group with 9 points.
In the Round of 16, Croatia beat Denmark 3-2 on penalties after the scores were tied 1-1. In the quarter-final, Croatia knocked out hosts Russia, also on penalties. The scores were tied 2-2 after extra time and Croatia eventually won 4-3 to set up their first semi-final appearance since 1998.
