A flyover under construction in Brazil partially collapsed on Thursday, killing at least two people, the local mayor and news reports said.
More than 20 people were injured when the span of concrete fell onto a road below near Belo Horizonte, one of Brazil’s World Cup host cities, crushing two unoccupied trucks, a car, and the front of a bus, Mayor Marcio Lacerda said.
One of the fatalities was the bus driver.
The accident occurred within 10km of the city’s Mineirao stadium, slated to host a World Cup semifinal on Tuesday.
Rescuers were trying to reach the buried vehicles and any other possible victims, Fire Department Captain Edgard Estevo told broadcaster Globo .
The trucks belonged to a construction company, which told authorities that they were unoccupied.
The accident blocked the main road from the local airport to central Belo Horizonte.
