Nikola Zigic has signed for Premier League club Birmingham City, according to English and Spanish media reports on Wednesday.

The reports said that Birmingham will pay Valencia around €7 million ($8.58 million) for the towering striker, who successfully underwent medical checks in England on Wednesday. Zigic, 29, has hardly played for Valencia since joining from Racing Santander in 2007. Even so, he has been included in Radomir Antic’s Serbian World Cup squad.

Last week cash-strapped Valencia — who finished third in La Liga last season — sold star striker David Villa to Barcelona.
