Spurs reaches FA Cup semis

Tottenham Hotspur turned on an astonishing second-half display to beat Fulham 3-1 and reach the FA Cup semifinal where they will meet Portsmouth.

Bobby Zamora had given Fulham a first-half lead, but goals from David Bentley, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Eidur Gudjohnsen turned the game.

By the end, Fulham, who last week reached the last eight of the Europa League, looked a tired side.

Zamora swept in Damien Duff’s through ball after 17 minutes to give Fulham the lead.

The game, though, was changed by Tottenham’s substitutions, as they found a new crispness to their passing and sense of purpose.

Tom Huddlestone and Bentley came on at half-time for Niko Kranjcar and Benoit Assou-Ekotto, and Bentley levelled two minutes later.

His free-kick from the left whipped across the box, took one bounce and drifted in.

After 54 minutes Vedran Corluka was forced off with a twisted ankle and replaced by Pavlyuchenko, who himself had been a major injury doubt.

The Russian had made his mark within six minutes, volleying in a Bentley cross at the back post for his ninth goal in his last eight games.

Gudjohnsen made the game safe six minutes later, running on to Luka Modric’s through ball, rounding Mark Schwarzer and stabbing in to an empty net.

The semi-final will be played at Wembley on the weekend of April 10 and 11.
