US striker Jozy Altidore is expected to be fit for his country’s World Cup opening game against England on Saturday.
“I feel great,” the 20-year-old Villarreal player said after resuming training in South Africa, following an ankle sprain he picked up in a friendly against Australia.
“The ankle feels fine,” he said. “I’m happy to be part of the group again.”
The US squad will be looking to repeat their historic 1950 victory against England in their Group C clash in Rustenburg. Other teams in the group are Algeria and Slovenia.
