Manchester United winger Nani has signed a new four-year deal that ties him to the English champions until June 2014.

The Portugal winger struggled after joining United in 2007 from Sporting Lisbon, but has become one of the team’s most influential players.

“Nani is an emerging talent within the team and has developed tremendously since joining the club,” manager Alex Ferguson said. “We are delighted he has signed a new contract and I am sure he will have a long and successful future here at Manchester United.”

The 23-year-old Nani has won two Premier League titles and the Champions League with United and is on target to win them again this season. United has a one-point lead domestically and plays Bayern Munich in the European quarterfinals next week.

“I’m playing alongside some of the best players in the world,” Nani said. “I’m looking forward to winning many more trophies with this team.”
