Mourinho, Ronaldo beef up Spain-Portugal WC bid

Real Madrid’s Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo took time to support Spain-Portugal’s bid to co-host the 2018 World Cup on Tuesday.

The Portuguese pair met with FIFA’s inspection team at Madrid’s Valdebebas training ground.

Mourinho told inspectors the complex was a perfect training centre for three to four teams during the World Cup.

Mourinho’s Inter Milan and Bayern Munich trained here before the Champions League final in May and Mourinho says “we never saw each other.”

Spain Sports Minister Jaime Lissavetzky says the tour was “very positive,” with FIFA giving Spain encouraging feedback over its infrastructure and security.

The inspection team was also touring the Santiago Bernabeu stadium - the proposed venue for the final.
