England midfielder David Beckham says beating Croatia is just about qualifying for the 2010 World Cup and not revenge for Slaven Bilic’s side denying it a spot at the 2008 European Championship.

England’s place in South Africa net June will be guaranteed if it registers an eighth straight win in Group 6 against Croatia on Wednesday at Wembley.

Beckham says coach Fabio Capello has restored belief to the England side he picked up after the Euro 2008 qualification campaign ended with a 3-2 loss to Croatia at Wembley.

Beckham said: “I’m sure the fans will be wanting us to beat them on the revenge side, but the most important thing for us is knowing if we win it we know we are in the World Cup finals.”
