Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has admitted to violent and improper conduct after stamping on former Arsenal teammate Robin van Persie in last weekend’s Premier League match.

Man City said that it has “reluctantly accepted the violent conduct charge laid by the Football Association.” The incident left Van Persie with a cut on his face.

City said: “The player strongly maintains that he did not intend to act in a violent manner. He apologised on the day to Robin van Persie personally and to the wider public for the outcome of the challenge.”
