Fakhar Zaman became the first Pakistan player to hit a double century in ODIs as the visiting side crushed Zimbabwe by 244 runs to go 4-0 up in their one-day series.
Zaman smashed an unbeaten 210 (156b, 24x4, 5x6) moving past Saeed Anwar’s 194 scored in Chennai in 1997. That wasn’t the only record to tumble.
Pakistan’s openers blazed a World record 304-run stand, with Imam-ul-Haq hitting 113 (122b, 8x4). It broke the previous record for an opening stand, the 286 set by Sanath Jayasuriya and Upul Tharanga for Sri Lanka against England in 2006. When the opening partnership was snapped, Asif Ali arrived at the crease and immediately went on the attack, smashing 50 from 22 deliveries to help boost This was Pakistan’s to another record: its highest-ever total in ODIs.
Zimbabwe’s response never got going and it was bowled out for 155 in the 43rd over.
The scores: Pakistan 399 for one in 50 overs (Fakhar Zaman 210 n.o., Imam-ul-Haq 113) bt Zimbabwe 155 in 42.4 overs (Donald Tiripano 44, Elton Chigumbura 37, Shadab Khan four for 28) .
