Why today’s Pakistan vs Australia is crucial to India

Bangladesh has already been eliminated after losing all three group 2 matches.

The Group 2 in the World T20 Championship is witnessing a three-way stand-off now, with >Pakistan, Australia and India having equal chances of qualifying for the second semifinal slot from the group.

The fates of the other two in the group have been decided. New Zealand has won three matches and has already qualified for the semifinals.

Bangladesh, which has lost three matches, has been eliminated.

Pakistan has lost both the matches it played — >against India and >New Zealand . However, it has a net run rate (+0.254) superior to India (-0.546), which has won two of its three matches.

Australia has >defeated Bangladesh and lost to >group leaders New Zealand.

If Australia beats Pakistan on Friday, then it will be a virtual quarterfinal match between India and Australia.

If Pakistan beats Australia, it will be a contest between India and Australia where the net run-rate will become a crucial factor.
