A video clip went viral on Monday and Tuesday; that of Sachin Tendulkar in a bush shirt, not tucked in, hitting a few shots off under-arm bowling. A plastic road barricade of considerable width was the make-shift single-piece stump!

The staff of a restaurant near Bandra Kurla Complex were thrilled on Sunday night when Tendulkar chum, Atul Ranade, stepped off the car and told them: “Allow him to play two balls, he’s our player; a ‘sada’ (ordinary) player.”

The restaurant staff and the workers on the nearby Metro Rail construction site were delighted. They called him “Master” and shook hands before sending under-arm deliveries.

Ranade told The Hindu: “Sachin, his friend from the US and myself were on way to a restaurant for dinner. The American friend saw the cricket action under lights and expressed a wish to see Sachin play. I said, he’s unlikely. But then, Sachin did step out and played with them. It was a lane approaching BKC and in a residential locality. It just happened.”

All action ended with Sachin posing for selfies!
