The Australian team had injury worries after Sunday's match with skipper Michael Clarke hurting his hamstring while fielding.
“I will have a scan on Monday. Hopefully, it will be all right,” said Clarke.
The Australian skipper also said his side was 30 to 40 runs short and termed his side's fielding “horrible.”
Man-of-the-Match Gautam Gambhir was delighted with India's four-wicket win, but felt the side should have closed out the match sooner.
Gambhir said, “We could have finished the game in the 48th over. We should not have taken this game to the 50th over. This is my personal opinion. But, this is easier said than done. There is far more pressure on the players who are in the middle. They have to take the decision.
“I don't know why he (Dhoni) delayed it, perhaps he wanted somebody else to take up the responsibility. Still, the most important shot in the match was played by him [referring to the six off Mckay in the final over].
“If I was there, I would not have looked to take it till the last over. I would have sought to wrap it up one or two overs earlier. There is far more pressure even if you need five or six runs from the final over. But then, we are different human beings, we think differently,” added Gambhir.
About the rotation policy adopted by the Indian team — Sachin Tendulkar was rested for this game — Gambhir replied, “Given the number of matches we play, it is important to rotate. When we don't rotate, everyone has a problem. When we rotate, then it becomes an issue too. Be it Rohit or Raina, they get an extra opportunity.”
Belief counts
The left-hander said, “To be honest, this was the best eleven too. Most importantly, this was the eleven with the belief that it could beat Australia in Australia. One or two players cannot make the difference. This team had belief. It's not about individuals but about a side which has the belief. You don't want names. You want people who can deliver.”
Gambhir said it was important that a batsman from the top three batted till the 35th over at least. He dedicated the victory to Yuvraj Singh, who is recovering from cancer.
He termed Umesh Yadav the find of the tour. “Anyone who can bowl at 150 kmph with a semi new ball has to be very good.”
Asked about the Indian eleven for the match, Clarke said, “When I think of the best Indian eleven, the great Sachin Tendulkar will be a part of it.”
