Unadkat six-wkt. haul puts Saurashtra in command

November 20, 2011 02:16 am | Updated 02:16 am IST - MOHALI:

Left-arm seamer Jaydev Unadkat created a winning position for Saurashtra over Punjab with a six-wicket haul on the third day of the Ranji Trophy Super League at the PCA Stadium here on Saturday.

Resuming at 59 for three, Punjab was bowled out for 278 with Unadkat claiming six for 87. Barring Mandeep Singh and Amitoze Singh, the Punjab batting lacked the character to stand up to the guiles of Unadkat and the slow stuff from Ravindra Jadeja, who two wickets.

Mandeep and Amitoze added 121 runs for the seventh wicket but Punjab failed to avoid follow on. Mandeep remained unbeaten on 85 with 12 fours off 152 balls while Amitoze contributed 64 off 91 balls with 13 fours.

In the second venture, Punjab was reduced to 44 for four with seamer Sandeep Maniar striking three blows.
