Two CL T20 matches shifted to Bangalore

August 17, 2011 04:16 am | Updated November 17, 2021 01:30 am IST - Mumbai:

On account of Durga Puja celebrations which begin on October 2 and a request from Kolkata Police, two matches of the Nokia Champions League T20 matches scheduled to be held at Kolkata on October 1 have been moved to Bangalore.

If CSK qualifies for the semi-finals, it will play the match at Chennai. If RCB qualifies for the semifinals, it will play the match at Bangalore regardless of its finishing position, but if it is drawn to play CSK, it will play semi-final 2 at Chennai because CSK is the defending CLT20 champion.

In the qualifying tournament each team will play two matches. The top team in each of the qualifying pool along with the next highest ranked team (decided on points/ Net Run Rate), will advance to the group stage.

The top team in Pool A will be designated q1 and the top team in Pool B will be designated q2.

The next highest ranked team will be designated q3. Should KKR qualify as the next highest ranked team, it will assume the q1 position in the group stage and the top team in Pool A will assume the q3 position. Teams in the qualifying pool A are KKR, ECB2 and Auckland and in pool B are Trinidad & Tobago, ECB1 and Sri Lanka Cricket.
