India’s wrecker-in-chief Bhuvneshwar Kumar, much like Ajinkya Rahane on Thursday, underplayed his contribution while addressing the media here on Friday.
He attributed his and the bowling unit’s success to “keeping England quiet”.
“The plan is to bowl outside the off-stump. We need to get more wickets. The pitch was assisting and on these type of wickets, it is important to stay disciplined,” Bhuvneshwar said.
“It is definitely a good feeling to do well at Lord’s. I have been watching Lord’s Tests from childhood,” Bhuvneshwar said.
Appraising the pitch, he still felt that there was some help for the bowlers. “Now it is a bit easy for the batsmen but it will still be difficult for them if you bowl in the right areas. I am enjoying bowling in these conditions,” Bhuvneshwar said and added that he drew inspiration from statemate Praveen Kumar and Dale Steyn in the IPL.
Meanwhile, Gary Ballance said that it felt good to score a century at Lord’s in an interesting week. The England centurion praised the Indian attack.
“They were very disciplined all day and you got to give credit to them but we fought hard and put ourselves in a good position,” Ballance said.
He also sheepishly said that he wouldn’t repeat the drunken-revelry he indulged in at Trent Bridge.
