Seamers Basil Thampi and K. Vignesh left for Australia on Friday night for a two-week stint at the National Cricket Academy, Brisbane, as part of the annual exchange programme between Cricket Australia and MRF Pace Foundation.
They were accompanied by MRF head coach M. Senthilnathan.
“It will be a valuable experience for the boys. They will also undergo 3-D biomechanical tests,” said Senthilnathan to The Hindu .
The 24-year-old Thampi from Kerala impressed with his speed and yorkers in the 2017 edition of the IPL. He has 29 wickets in 17 first class matches at 38.20.
Vignesh, the 23-year-old paceman from Tamil Nadu, has been immensely successful in first class cricket with 61 scalps in 15 matches at 21.86.
He can be sharp from an easy uncomplicated action, moves the ball away and does get the odd ball to nip back.
