It was a pleasant experience for the Delhi Daredevils team. The training session at the Sehwag International School in Jhajjar, 60 kilometres from Delhi, was a light exercise of cricket, but a “huge” discovery of Sehwag's dream project, a 23-acre sporting complex amidst green fields in Rohtak district.

“It may not be up to the mark in terms of infrastructure, but when the team comes here next year it will find everything in place,” said Sehwag, at the end of the session held on a pitch that had good bounce and carry.

Expressing his admiration, former Test fast bowler Ajit Agarkar said, “It is amazing. The open ambience, the breeze, green outfield…It is great because a colleague has created such wonderful facilities. It will be nice if the centre is able to give a batsman like Sehwag.”

Even as Sehwag promised the ground would be available for junior and first-class cricket, he confessed it would be “tough” to maintain a pitch that would continue to produce true pace and bounce. “Regular use of the ground would make my job easy,” he added.

On the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), Sehwag emphasised he was “fit” and looking forward to make an impact. “We have a good side. We have the right combination of batsmen and bowlers, even though we would miss some of our overseas stars in a few matches in the beginning. We want the stars to be with us as much as possible.” Daredevils would miss David Warner for ten matches and Ross Taylor for four or five matches.
