Rajasthan Royals players will wear pink, to demonstrate association with an IPL-centric cancer detection initiative ‘Cancer Out’, in the match against Chennai Super Kings on Friday.

RR skipper Ajinkya Rahane, one of the faces of the campaign, said “as a sportsperson, whether fit or not, I feel cancer screening is necessary for early detection and cure. I am proud that we are sending out a positive message via cricket to fans and public.”

He urged those watching RR and IPL to realise that a health check-up every six months for cancer detection and other major health issues would help in the long run. “I am looking forward to giving whatever support can be done as a cricketer for the cause,” added Rahane.

Rahane, along with teammates Mahipal Lomror, Heinrich Klaasen and K. Gowtham, were screened to drive home the point that the disease is curable with early detection and timely treatment.

As part of the match dedicated to the ‘Cancer Out’ cause, cancer survivor kids will go out for the toss, while patients, wearing distinctive T-shirts explaining the initiative, will watch the game from a special stand.

Apart from RR, the participants in the ‘Cancer Out’ project are Tata Trusts, Rajasthan government, National Cancer Grid, Indian Cancer Society and Indian Dental Association.

A toll-free number 180004208888 and a website www.cancerout.org.in have been set up.
