Nortje, Ngidi out of IPL

South Africa duo Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi will both miss the IPL after sustaining injuries.

Nortje, who had made his international debut against Sri Lanka earlier this month, has sustained a shoulder injury that has sidelined him for six weeks and will see him miss the entire competition for Kolkata Knight Riders, South Africa team manager Dr. Mohammed Moosajee has confirmed.

Alongside Nortje, Ngidi will also miss the IPL having suffered a side strain in South Africa’s ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Ngidi was set to feature for Chennai Super Kings.

CSK CEO K.S. Viswanathan said to The Hindu, “We will find a replacement in a couple of days. Ngidi bowled very well last season and we will miss him.

“We will have to pick someone at or under ₹50 lakh that was Ngidi’s price. We cannot go over that.”
