Narrow win for Pakistan

September 08, 2011 11:10 pm | Updated August 03, 2016 10:37 pm IST - Bulawayo:

Pakistan posted a narrow five-run win over a gutsy Zimbabwe in the first One-day International at the Queens Sports Club here on Thurdsay.

Zimbabwe's chase was powered by skipper Brendan Taylor and his 84 was not good enough to take the host past the target of 248.

Earlier, Pakistan, after choosing to bat, was held to a modest score of 247. The tourist simply could not get a grip on the innings and lost wickets at critical times.

Misbah ul-Haq's side seemed set to get more than 280 runs in the early stages even though it lost Imran Farhat for a duck in the first over.

Elton Chigumbura, returning to the Zimbabwe side after injury, was its best bowler, though his figures of one for 31 in 10 overs did not reflect that.
