It’s a mismatch made more unequal by their contrasting fortunes. Delhi Daredevils, at the bottom of the table and out of the race for all practical purposes, host table-topper Sunrisers Hyderabad here on Thursday, playing more for pride than anything else.
DD, with just three wins in 10 games, plays all its remaining matches at home but that would be of little help. The venue has not been the kind of fortress some of the other franchises have enjoyed at their home grounds. DD’s success rate hovers at around the 46 % mark over the years.
The host would also be wary of the weather that saw it barely scrape past Rajasthan Royals at home a week ago. DD won by four runs through DLS but still ended up conceding 146 runs in just 12 overs. With thunderstorms across the city for the past two days and a light drizzle on Wednesday that delayed the teams’ practice, it didn’t make for the best of conditions.
