Suspect action stopped Amit’s selection

Amit Singh, according to reports a proxy for bookies and nabbed by the Delhi Police in the Pepsi-IPL VI spot-fixing manipulation of a few matches, tried his utmost to get into the Rajasthan Royals team.

But the franchise did not consider the Gujarat seamer after it was told in no uncertain terms by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he was on the suspect action list and banned from playing domestic tournaments (IPL is a domestic tournament).

A Rajasthan Royals spokesperson messaged the The Hindu that the BCCI had informed the franchise that Amit Singh was in the suspect action list and hence cannot be included in its IPL squad.

He has played 20 matches for Gujarat and captured 52 wickets. — Special Correspondent
