IPL schedule has nothing to do with Lodha Committee: Rajeev Shukla

February 06, 2016 11:07 am | Updated October 18, 2016 01:03 pm IST - Bengaluru:

The Lodha Committee’s wide-ranging recommendations briefly surfaced in the morning’s first press-conference here during the > IPL auction and the BCCI officials offered a straight bat to the questions. Queried about the need for adequate space between international cricket and IPL, as suggested by the Lodha Committee, the league’s chairman Rajeev Shukla replied: “The IPL schedule has nothing to do with the Lodha committee, we are studying that (the recommendations).”

Adding to Mr. Shukla’s remarks, the IPL ‘s chief operating officer Ratnakar Shetty said: “They are just comments in the Lodha report, we look at the best available space for the IPL and we will put that across to the committee.”

'Cricket leagues no match to IPL'

Mr.Shukla said that the mushrooming cricket leagues across the globe, are no match to the IPL. “The IPL as a stand-alone(product) is doing very well, IPL 9 will do better, IPL will grow further, it will go to many more countries. No leagues are any closer to the IPL and they cannot be a match to the IPL,” Mr. Shukla told reporters. Shukla’s views were reiterated by T.A. Sekar, Delhi Daredevils official. “Most stressful day for any countries is the IPL auction day, be it England or Australia, all those players, who have given their names, track the auction. It (IPL) is big," Sekar said.
