England women post facile win

The England women’s team made the most of the first Twenty20 warm-up and got the better of India-A by 45 runs at the Cricket Club of India on Monday.

Getting a feel of the second string Indian attack and the conditions at the Brabourne Stadium, Bryony Smith, Tamsin Beaumont and Heather Knight scored half centuries as the visitors posted 176 for four.

Then Anya Shrubsole, Natasha Farrant, Natalie Sciver took two wickets each to restrict the host to 131. D. Hemlatha made a 32-ball 41 with seven 4s.

The second warm up match will be played at the same venue on Wednesday.

India, Australia and England will play a Twenty20 triangular at the CCI from March 22 to 31.

The scores: England 176 for 4 in 20 overs (Bryony Smith 50,Tamsin Beaumont 57 not out, Heather Knight 52, Radha Yadav two for 37) bt India-A 131 in 20 overs (D. Hemalath 41, Anya Shrubsole two for 23, Natasha Farrant two for 21, Natalie Sciver two for 26) .
