“There are two or three that comes to the top of my head. The 180 at Kolkata and the partnership with V.V.S. Laxman, the 233 in Adelaide, the couple of innings that I have played in Jamaica for a Test win on a low-scoring wicket, runs at Headingley (148) and Rawalpindi (270). There are quite a few that come to the top of the head but it is hard to choose between your sons,” said Rahul Dravid when asked about his favourite knocks.
Fine bowlers
“People like Glenn McGrath, Muttiah Muralitharan, Curtly Ambrose, Courtney Walsh, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shane Warne are great bowlers. I also had the privilege of playing alongside Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath and Harbhajan Singh.”
Lots in store
A spate of citations awaits Rahul Dravid in the coming months.
BCCI president N. Srinivasan said the board would felicitate Dravid at “an appropriate time in the near future.”
KSCA president Anil Kumble too mentioned a similar programme “soon”.
Srinivasan paid high tribute to Dravid, when he said: “He did whatever the team wanted: whether it was keeping wickets? Yes; Open? Yes; What ever position? Yes.”
