A dismayed A.B. de Villiers said that he is yet to come to terms with the loss against Australia in the ICC World Twenty20 Super Eights game here on Sunday.
“I got a pretty bad taste right now in my mouth and I can’t put a finger on why we did badly. We played badly in the beginning and in the end,” he said.
The South African captain said that his coming lower down the order is just a reflection of his average within the ranks. “We have some class players up the order and to be honest my average is probably the least in the top six. I don’t have that great a record in Twenty20,” de Villiers said and added that once a world class player like Shane Watson gets going, it’s impossible to control the game.
Watson, the man of the moment, was equally at a loss of words to describe his purple patch. “I can’t really explain this. I guess things are finally falling my way. Look, the ball with which I got de Villiers was an average one but I got the wicket. When I went into bat, I knew that we had to be careful in the first few overs against their world class bowlers. I am just making the most of it (good form) now,” Watson said.
