Bengal finishes third

Bengal trounced Assam by eight wickets in the last Group D league match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Twenty20 tournament here on Monday.

With four wins in the eight-team league, Bengal finished third behind Mumbai and Haryana and did not qualify for the Super League.

In an earlier match, Madhya Pradesh beat Pondicherry by five runs.

Karnataka, Baroda, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Punjab, Mumbai, Haryana, Delhi and Jharkhand have advanced to the Super League to be held in Surat from November 21 to Dec. 1.
