Australia-A women beat their Indian counterparts by four wickets in the second One-Day International, at the MCA’s BKC facility on Wednesday, to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Electing to bat, skipper and opener Punam Raut made a 99-ball 64 with ten hits to the fence and Mona Meshram a 71-ball 59 with eight fours. But the inability of the home team to string partnerships, apart from the 50-run fourth-wicket stand between Punam and Mona, scuttled its chances of posting a formidable total.
Tahlia McGrath, who took two wickets bowling right-arm medium pace, blasted 47 (45b, 7x4, 1x6) and put on 74 for the fourth-wicket with Heather Graham (68 n.o., 87b, 8x4).
The scores: India-A 197 for seven in 50 overs (Punam Raut 64, Mona Meshram 59, Molly Strano three for 23) lost to Australia-A 200 for six in 40.3 overs (Tahlia McGrath 47, Heather Graham 68 n.o., Shikha Pandey three for 38) .
