Australia was 30-0 at stumps chasing 231 on the on the third day of the fourth Ashes test against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Offspinner Nathan Lyon took five wickets and reached 100 in his test career as Australia dismissed England for 179.
Ben Stokes was out for 19 shortly after tea scooping a Lyon ball to mid-off and Mitchell Johnson had Bairstow caught behind for 21.
Lyon brought up his 100th test wicket and hastened England’s second 3-1 collapse of the day when he bowled Tim Bresnan (0) and had Stuart Broad caught for a duck by Michael Clarke at slip two balls later.
Kevin Pietersen hit 49 before becoming Lyon’s fifth wicket when he lofted the ball to Ryan Harris at long-off.
Johnson had Monty Panesar lbw for a duck to end the innings.
