India all-rounder R. Ashwin, followed his six wickets in the first innings with another six-wicket haul in the second but could not prevent his side Nottinghamshire from going down to Surrey by 167 runs in a Division One match of the English county championship on Monday.

Ashwin, who had claimed six for 69 in Surrey’s first innings, finished with six for 75 in the second, operating with the new ball. Surrey declared at 224 for nine, setting Notts a target of 349. The latter was dismissed for 181, with Ashwin top-scoring with 66.
