The Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) Chairman Vinod Rai has overturned the thought process of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) to confer with India captain Virat Kohli before announcing the name of the head coach.
A very reliable source close to the developments told The Hindu : "Mr. Rai has asked the BCCI to announce the name the head coach by Tuesday evening. He has spoken to the BCCI CEO Rahul Johri and to the BCCI acting Secretary Amitabh Choudhary and asked name the head coach."
The CAC member Sourav Ganguly had on Monday stated that he, V.V.S.Laxman, and Sachin Tendulkar would speak to Kohli on various aspects of coaching, including individual styles before naming the coach.
"Kohli needs to understand how different coaches operate. We will speak to him after he returns from (South) America," Ganguly had said after the CAC had seen presentations and interviewed five candidates including Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag, Lalchand Rajput, Tom Moody and Richard Pybus.
In recent times Mr. Rai and Mr. Choudhary had gone on record saying that the CAC will have the last word on identifying the coach.
