Wesley Durston, who addressed the post mach conference for Somerset Sabres in place of skipper Justin Langer who had gone for a drug test, acknowledged that the absence of Marcus Trescothick did have a bearing on the team’s fortunes. “We are going to miss him and his experience,” he said.
“We have to respect his decision to leave,” the Sabres top scorer said. For the encounter against NSW Blues, Durston said that this disappointment had to be overcome. “NSW on paper is a strong side and we will look forward to Sunday’s game,” he added.
Wrecker in chief for the Eagles, C.J. de Villiers who addressed the media seated beside wicket keeper Morn Van Wyk underplayed his stupendous showing. “I am pretty lucky to be here,” said the wiry speedster.
Van Wyk felt that the event was ideal for a lot of players just outside the top eleven of their respective countries. “It’s a great opportunity to showcase your talent,” he said.
Wyk hoped that the Eagles would be fresh for Sunday. “Trinidad and Tobago is a dangerous side with its pros and cons. We hope to go there and enjoy our game,” he said.
