N. Srinivasan, chairman of the International Cricket Council, denied here on Monday that the image of Indian cricket had taken a hit. He was responding to a pressperson’s question during an event to announce MRF as global partner for the ICC Cricket World Cup. Mr. Srinivasan did not reply to a query on whether Indian captain M.S. Dhoni would be asked to resign as vice-president of India Cements. When television reporters pressed him for a response, Mr. Srinivasan replied curtly: “Why should I [answer].” Mr. Srinivasan is the vice-chairman and managing director of India Cements.
He refused to answer questions on the IPL scandal, saying the matter was sub-judice. He sounded irritated when asked if the Indian Super League football tournament would surpass the success of the Indian Premier League. “Can I remind you that this is an ICC function?”
