England batsman Kevin Pietersen will miss the Champions Trophy due to complications following surgery on a chronic Achilles tendon injury.

Pietersen had been expected to be fit again for the September 22-October 5 tournament in South Africa. But last week the 29-year-old Pietersen developed an infection in the scar tissue.

Kent opening batsman Joe Denly was the only uncapped player named on Monday in the squad for the ODI series against Australia and the Champions Trophy.
