It will be a test of character for the top guns of Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as they slug it out at the Sawai Man Singh stadium in the Indian Premier League race for a semi-final slot.

In this land where stories of valour abound and inspire the young generation, it will be veterans in the two camps who will guide the course to victory in this crucial battle on Wednesday.

Jacques Kallis and Anil Kumble have served RCB with distinction. They have figured in all the 12 matches, just as Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli and Robin Uthappa. It is their consistency that will count; also the explosive nature of Uthappa, who can swing the match in a matter of one over.

Shane Warne too has taken the field 12 times, the same as Naman Ojha, Yusuf Pathan and Abhishek Jhunjhunwala.

The Australian legend has stood out with his involvement, getting the best out of the lot and motivating with personal deeds.

Michael Lumb and Shaun Tait have been in the scheme of things but not always delivered. Now is the time for them to be counted, depending on the combination that Warne plans.

Major worry

For RCB the major worry has been getting the best 11 to field. Kumble has a wide and rich field to pick his eleven from but they have come a cropper when the contests have been close.

But the legendary leg-spinner can be expected to lead by example. It is a quality that he has developed into an art form over the years.

A good pitch invites the teams to give their best. The camps are obviously charged up and much would revolve around the two stalwarts — Kumble and Warne, bowlers of same class but distinctly different style. They hold the key tomorrow.
