February 02, 2017 12:44 am | Updated 12:44 am IST - MUMBAI:

India U-19 bowlers defended 287 in the second ODI against England Under-19 here on Wednesday.

After making 287 for eight in 50 overs, India U-19 bowled out England U-19 for 158. Left-arm spinner Anukul Roy took three for 34 for India.

England opted to field after Matthew Fischer called right and the skipper justified his decision with four wickets for 44 runs. He claimed both openers Prithvi Shaw and Himanshu Rana (58 runs off 66 balls, 10x4). Harvik Desai, coming at number six for India U-19, top-scored on 75 (62 balls, 10x4) and Kamlesh Nagarkoti chipped in with an unbeaten 36 off 32 balls, swelling the total to 287 for eight wickets.

England’s chase did not take off as the bowlers stuck to a plan, supported by wicket-keeper Desai pouching four catches. Delray Rawlins (46 off 35 balls, 5x4, 2x6) at No. 5 attacked, but lacked support from teammates. He had scored a century in the previous game. India used seven bowlers, among whom Mavi had impressive figures of 5-1-13-2. Roy stood out with 7-1-34-3.

The scores:

India U-19 287 for eight in 50 overs (Himanshu Rana 58, Harvik Desai 75 Kamlesh Nagarkoti 36, Matthew Fischer four for 44, Henry Brookes three for 60) beat England U-19 158 in 33.4 overs (Delray Rawlins 46, Harry Brook 26, Anukul Roy three for 34).
