Dhoni lauds bowlers, Kohli

M.S. Dhoni lauded his bowlers and ‘Man-of-the-Match’ Virat Kohli for helping India defeat Pakistan in a key World Twenty20 Super Eights match here on Sunday.

“We have had easy victories and a bad defeat (against Australia) but last match’s performance is not the right parameter to judge our bowlers as they had to bowl with a wet ball.

“I am happy with the way our bowlers, especially part-timers and spinners, performed against Pakistan. The pitch was a bit slow and two-paced,” the Indian captain said.

The skipper stressed that Kohli played a crucial innings and on the batting in general, he said: “We picked Virender Sehwag because of his very good record against Pakistan and there was no way we could drop him in this match. Kohli played well and Yuvraj Singh too will gain in confidence after this knock.

“He is fit for this format and this experience against international level bowlers will surely help his confidence.”

Meanwhile, Mohammad Hafeez said that poor batting proved costly for Pakistan.

“If we had scored 160 that would have been an ideal score. Unfortunately we kept losing wickets regularly and that affected us. I still back Shahid Afridi as a match-winner and for India, Kohli played a good knock,” the Pakistan captain said.
