As if their ouster from the Champions League Twenty20 was not disappointing enough, Deccan Chargers have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their narrow defeat to Trinidad & Tobago here.
Champions League Twenty20 Match Referee S Venkataraghavan imposed the fine after Deccan was ruled to be one over short of its target at the end of the match when time allowances were taken into consideration, at Uppal Stadium on Wednesday.
In accordance with the CLT20 Code of Behaviour regulations governing over-rate penalties, players are fined USD 750 for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.
The offence is contrary to Section C of the CLT20 Code of Behaviour. For such offences, the decision of the CLT20 Match Referee is final and binding.
Indian Premier League champions Deccan Chargers made a shock exit from the CLT20 after losing to T & T by three runs.
