Darren Bravo is proud of being compared to Brian Lara. “I have been told that my batting style resembles his but it is something that comes naturally to me. It’s not something that I have consciously worked on.

“Lara was one of the finest batsmen ever and I don’t feel any pressure in the way people rate me. I play positive and I play a high percentage of shots and the cover-drive is a personal favourite,” said Darren, the younger brother of Dwayne Bravo.

The duo is in town as part of the Trinidad and Tobago team for the forthcoming Champions League tournament.

Darren played four ODIs when India toured West Indies recently but is yet to cement his place at the highest level despite the accolades that the 20-year old southpaw has garnered on account of his talent.

“We have a good team and I am looking forward to doing well in India,” Darren said and as for living in Dwayne’s shadow, he said, “Dwayne is a positive influence. He guides me with ideas and that helps.”
