Three set meet records

Santhosh Devdas and V. Krishna Prasad of S.T. Hindu College, Nagercoil and Shijilin of N.M. Christian College, Marthandam set new meet records in shot put, pole vault and 800m respectively in the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University inter-collegiate athletic meet held at the Race Course stadium here on Saturday.

A.K. Kumaraguru, Vice-Chancellor, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University who was the chief guest, inaugurated the event.

The results:

Men:Shot put : 1. Santhosh Devdas (S.T. Hindu, Nagercoil) 14.21m — NMR (OR: 13.85m); 2. E. John Athisayaraj (Margoschis HSS, Nazareth); 3. Swindon Dony (St. Xavier’s, Palayamkottai).

800m : 1. Shijilin (NM Christian , Marthandam) 1:58.6s — NMR (OR: 1:59.6s); 2.Thilipkumar (S.T. Hindu, Nagercoil); 3. R. Robin Prakash (St. Xavier’s, Palayamkottai).

10,000m : 1. Ruban Daniel (Sri KGS Arts, Tuticorin) 35:52.6s; 2. A. Alex (S.T. Hindu, Nagercoil); 3. Vijaya Kirubakaran (Thiruvalluvar, Papanasam).

Pole Vault : 1. V. Krishna Prasad (S.T. Hindu, Nagercoil) 4.40m — NMR (OR: 4.25m); 2. Amaran (Sadakathullah Appa, Tirunelveli); 3. Ajin (N.M. Christian, Marthandam).

Women:800m : 1. A. Asha (Holy Cross, Nagercoil) 2:25.6s; 2. Krishnaveni (Thiruvalluvar, Papanasam); 3. Ramya (Sri Sarada College for Women, Tirunelveli).

10,000 m : 1. Divyalakshmi (Govindammal Aditanar College for Women, Tiruchendur) 46:27.2s; 2. Muthumari (Sri Sarada College for Women, Tirunelveli); 3. Ponrani (Thiruvalluvar, Papanasam).

Javelin : 1. Yogeshwari (TDMNS, Kallikulam) 28.52m; 2. Muthumari (Sri Sarada College for Women, Tirunelveli); 3. Ponrani (Thiruvalluvar, Papanasam).
