London 2012 proved to be third time lucky for Yogeshwar Dutt as the Indian wrestler won the bronze medal in the men’s 60 kg freestyle competition. The 29-year-old grappler from Haryana came through two rounds of repechage and the bronze match to land India’s fifth medal at the Games.

Yogeshwar, the reigning Commonwealth Games champion, started wrestling from the early age of eight. He shot into the limelight when he won the 2003 Commonwealth wrestling championship, London proving a lucky venue for him.

At the 2008 Beijing Games, he narrowly missed a medal when he lost in the quarterfinals.

Now, with the bronze in London, he becomes India’s third wrestler to win an Olympic medal after K.D. Jadhav in 1952 and Sushil Kumar in 2008.
