After a disappointing series last month, triple jumper Arpinder Singh appears to have struck form. The 27-year-old Asian Games champion jumped an impressive 16.63m, his season best, and finished fifth in the Sotteville les Rouen athletics meet here on Tuesday.

Brazilian Melo Alexsandro, currently 10th in the world list this year with his 17.31m jump in April, won the gold with 17.20m.

Arpinder has a personal best of 17.17m but he struggled in two meets in France last month with disappointing 15.85m and 15.78m jumps.

Mohammed Salahuddin is the country’s top triple jumper this year with his 16.64m and Arpinder is now just a centimetre behind.
