The Union Sports Ministry has approved a list of 136 members, with 81 athletes and 35 coaches, for the 30th Olympic Games to be held in London from July 27.
In a release issued here on Thursday, it was mentioned the approval had been extended to 57 men and 24 women athletes, spread over 13 disciplines.
Hockey has the biggest squad with 22 members, followed by athletics (21), shooting (16), archery (10), tennis (10), wrestling (9), badminton (7), rowing (4), wrestling (4), weightlifting (4), table tennis (3), swimming (2) and judo (2).
A physiotherapist each has been attached to hockey and judo, while there will be a common physio with the IOA medical staff, consisting of three other doctors.
12 foreign coaches
Quite notably, there are only 12 foreign coaches among the 39 nominated in various disciplines, and five of them figure in the shooting squad.
That includes Uwe Linn of Germany, accredited as a personal coach for Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra.
The other foreign coaches are part of athletics, boxing, badminton, hockey, table tennis and tennis.
The government approval does not extend to four coaches, with p-category accreditation, functioning as private coaches attached two each to shooting and tennis, while hockey will have two additional players as reserves.
The approved contingent of 136 also has Chef de Mission, Ajit Pal Singh and Dy. Chef de Mission, Brig. P.K. Muralidharan Raja, apart from five other IOA officials.
