India’s chief National badminton coach P. Gopi Chand hailed the performance of sprinter Dutee Chand who clinched a silver in the 100m and the 200m events.

“Lot of efforts for sure have gone into realising these goals by her and the trainer N. Ramesh (SAI athletics coach). And, it is because of lot of belief has gone into what they dreamt and how chased the targets,” Gopi said on Thursday.

“I am glad she is from our own Academy too. There was a choice sometime back for her to go back to Odisha but she refused to do so and preferred to stay here. We will continue to support her,” he said. “I should it is a team effort al the way — everyone chipped in including the Mythra Foundation, the SAI, SATS and everyone else at the Academy,” he added.
