Kerala's Alley Kuriakose stole the limelight on the penultimate day of the 33rd National Masters athletics championships, rewriting two meet records at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here.

The 40-year-old Southern Railway employee from Palakkad leapt to glory in the women's 40 plus triple jump and high jump events on Saturday, erasing 17-year-old records in both.

Kuriakose cleared 1.31m in the high jump, bettering Kalandi Agashee's mark of 1.29 from 1995. She then bettered the same athlete's record of 9.70 in the triple jump, managing a distance of 10.70.

“I had done 10.01 in the State meet, so I was quite confident of setting a new record here,” she said afterwards. The victories marked a haul of three gold medals for Kuriakose, who had earlier won the long jump event also.

Tamil Nadu's Daisy Victor too had a fine outing on Saturday, adding the women's 80 plus shot put gold to the one she won in the triple jump on the opening day.
