India gained an overall lead of 123 over Bangladesh in the first Test at the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium here on Tuesday.
At close of play on the third day, India scored 122 for one in its second innings after restricting the Bangladesh first innings to 242.
Skipper Virender Sehwag was dismissed for 45, but India can hope to build a substantial lead here on the morrow. Earlier, a 108-run seventh-wicket partnership between Mahmudullah (69) and Mushfiqur Rahim (44) helped Bangladesh revive itself from a precarious 98 for six.
